Where it fits
Studios evaluating managed game-server infrastructure.
- REST API for session lifecycle
- No required game-server SDK
- On-demand and reserved node pools
- Published bandwidth-inclusive pricing
Pricing, in context
The on-demand rate is $0.07 per vCPU-hour at a 1 vCPU to 2 GB RAM ratio, with bandwidth included. The $0.035 reserved rate has a minimum commitment of one eight-core machine per region. A higher RAM ratio has different rates.
The trade-off to understand
Compare on-demand rates with on-demand rates. A reserved minimum can materially change the bill for a small game, even when its per-core rate is lower.
Ask before you buy
- Does your workload need the 2 GB or 4 GB RAM ratio?
- How many sessions run at the same time?
- Is a reserved machine commitment appropriate?
- How will your matchmaker start and stop sessions?
Other options to explore
- Edgegap — Deploy game-server containers on demand rather than running and placing every instance yourself.
Compare workload, billing units and responsibilities, rather than assuming these products are interchangeable.
